Earlier this week, I wrote about my sort-of-return to radio. It was brief (I like briefs, and love taking them off!) but lovely. Very nostalgic. I almost forgot that I also had a sort of return to theater.

In college, I was required to to do an internship with theater too. I had to go thorugh auditions - even if I just wanted to work with the theater company as a production staff - P.A.. Dakilang production assistant! The theater company had a policy that all their production staff also know how to perform - sing, dance, act, and roll-over like a dog. charing. But yeah, I had to take beginner's classes in broadway and modern jazz, tap dance, ballet (I quit after about two sessions), fad dance, acting, and yes, voice lessons. The voice lessons did not do any magic for me. I still sing very well... in the bathroom! I've also performed cameo roles (like 5 in a one-act play), had my pants fall off onstage, stumbled and fell, did the voice over announcements -- the works.
In college, I also had to take up Theater subjects like Theater Communication, Playwriting, Play reviewing, and other Chenelyn Vargases in Theater. I was also part of a small school-based theater company called Luwad (sounds like...?). I was mostly in charge of the administrative work, technical and sound direction, and mostly cameo roles (for lack of manpower).
I went to the QuadMedia Launch of Tanghalang Pilipino's Insiang sometime last month, (thanks to Gibbs Cadiz) and boy was it a wonderful feeling. I got to meet the cast (one of whom was my crush) and interview them, too. The launch was ultra-cool, thanks to MacBook Pros scattered all over the place. That and free wifi courtesy of their sponsors.

They also had a brief workshop on staging stage fight and bugbugan scenes. They called for volunteers. No one volunteered. So lo and behold, they got the most susceptible victim - the guy seated in front (aka ME!) to do a fight scene. BLOWS and JABS! Hello naman! I was in front of everyone else, which was not quite embarrassing for me since I'm used to subjecting myself to embarrassment anyway. Ins hort, makapal mukha ko! It was just a bit awkward since my theater actor crush was there too, watching. Gulp!
Anyway, here are some photos (courtesy of Gibbs and Joel McVie!)

So radio and theater... that leaves me with two more internships: TV and PRINT! When will I make a return for those?
