It's a holiday! I don't know of anyone who does not like holidays.
I'm at work, but I ain't complaining. I could have stayed home and finish watching America's Next Top Model Cycle 6, or download Veronica Mars, or download porn, or sleep. I could have done a lot of other things, specially now that my body clock is set to Manila Time. I'm not really expected to be at work today since I won't get any holiday extra pay. I don't get paid for overtime or night differential either. Oh, the downsides of a salaried employee. But I'm fine with it. At least, I semi-some-kinda own my time: free schedules and no time cards. And if ever I go to work on a holiday, I can offset that day for another day. Besides, I'm already running out of PTO credits...
Working on a holiday (and daytime at that), is love. There's peace. Fewer cars on the streets, fewer people in elevators, fewer people at work - all these give me a cool calm. Oh yeah, the weather cooperated today too. It was not that bright and sunny and I did not have to endure the sweltering heat of the sun whil walking to work.
This week is gonna be one helluva hell week for me. I need to conduct one-on-two training for the new people who will handle one of my major non-job-description-related tasks (whew! finally!), create and send reports, finish the initial draft of my project by Friday, automate skills check assessments, edit the flash-based web training environment and integrate my project onto it, think of a halloween costume. If only I had more time in my hands - working for 15 hours yesterday was not enough. And today will not be any different.
I'm just looking at the bright side of things. Working more than the normal 9-hour shift doesn't really hurt that bad. I get to accomplish more tasks. And besides, I don't have anyone to "come home to" except for Tyra Banks and America's Next Top Model 6.
Lunch over. Back to work.
