A Hat

Hayden and Ernie

I'm not a good photographer (actually, I'm not a photographer at all) but whenever I get requests from people (if they can use my photo for something), I say yes and allow them to. I'm not one who sells my photos. When I'm in a good mood, I actually go the extra mile and send them the original high-resolution copy (or copies) sans the watermark. As long as permission is sought prior to use, I no longer ask for any attribution. I don't even charge. I'm nice like that (maybe to compensate for the absence of talent and skill)

So to the producers/writers of The Buzz, I don't wanna make a big deal out of this (because I love your show dearly! like sobra! and I love Boy and Kris and Ruffa!), but please, the next time you use my photo:

  1. Kindly ask permission, or

  2. Acknowledge the use of the photo, or

  3. If you don't have time to do any of the above, do not remove or edit out my watermark.

The photo above, was used for their segment on Vicky Belo which aired last Sunday, February 15, 2009.

Here's how it turned out on The Buzz:

Who can you trust nowadays?

Last Monday, one of my friends, Jessica, and her roommates had to go through a very traumatic experience of having people enter their apartment with a gun and a grenade. They have a suspicion that one of the perpetrators was a gay man who befriended one of their roomies and eventually became friends with the rest of the household. Later on, that same guy stole an iPod and a phone. And last Monday, the guy probably decided that it was time for him to fish for bigger game.(full blog entry here)

The creepy part of this whole thing is that I live in a condo close to their apartment. I live in a condo close to her apartment and security here is quite strict. In fact, they have tightened the security measures last week, probably because of reports from building occupants of robbery.

An incident like this, sans the gun and the grenade, happened to me last year in my condo unit and while I was asleep. I made a quick rundown of the people I have invited over (hookups and the like), but remembered that the last time I brought someone home with me was three or four months prior to the incident. They took away two of my cellphones, some cash (were kind enough to leave my wallet), two watches and some other small and “handy” items. I haven’t found out who the robbers were and the investigation conducted by the condo’s administration and security personnel resulted in nothing.

It’s so sad to think that bad things happen to good people. And I feel for Jhes and her flatmates. They trusted this person and what do they get in return? An experience which they can surely remember for the rest of their lives. So my friends, please do take good care of yourselves and be perceptive of the people around you - even those you bring home for a one-nighter.

Here are a few excerpts from Jessica’s blog retelling the sad and traumatic incident :

It was like waking up from a dream only to realize that it would be better to stay dreaming than face the scary reality.

It was past 2am, monday, when I heard voices shouting.I rolled on the other side of my bed just to see a man standing at the open door of our room holding a gun.
I felt numb.I saw my friends, heads down and I could hear someone crying.
” akin na lhat ng cellphones nyo..wag kau maingay!” while pointing the gun towards my friends..
